IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Highlights of the Journey
Boteti River & Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
  • The Makgadikgadi region is home to the second-largest zebra migration on Earth. During the dry winter months, vast herds move toward the life-giving Boteti River from their summer grazing grounds deeper within the park.
  • The dramatic contrast between the arid salt pans and the flowing river ecosystem makes this region an essential inclusion on any Botswana safari.
Maun
  • Situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River, Maun is widely regarded as Botswana’s tourism capital and the primary gateway to the Okavango Delta. Despite its growth, the town retains a frontier charm.
  • Attractions in the area include scenic river cruises, nearby forest reserves, and access to some of Botswana’s most celebrated wildlife regions.
Moremi Game Reserve
  • Located on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve is considered one of Africa’s most beautiful protected areas. Spanning over 4,800 square kilometres, it encompasses an extraordinary mix of floodplains, lagoons, forests, and savannah.
  • This rich diversity supports exceptional wildlife densities, including buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, lion, cheetah, and the elusive African wild dog, along with rare antelope such as sitatunga and red lechwe.

Kazuma Forest Reserve
  • Positioned within the greater Chobe ecosystem, Kazuma Forest Reserve offers a quieter, more exclusive safari experience.
  • This expansive wilderness of grasslands, natural pans, and mopane woodland lies within an important elephant corridor, resulting in frequent sightings of large elephant herds alongside buffalo, giraffe, zebra, sable, lion, and leopard.

IC Africa uses quality mid-range lodge and tented accommodation, carefully selected for comfort, location, and authentic safari character.

  • Properties are typically situated within national parks, along riverfronts, or in prime wildlife areas.
  • Accommodation throughout the safari is a comfortable mix of lodges, chalets, and tented camps, all featuring en-suite facilities.

ITINERARY

Days 1 - 2 — Arrival at Boteti River, Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Botswana
  • On arrival at your lodge, you will be warmly welcomed and assisted with check-in before having time to settle into the peaceful rhythm of the Botswana bush. Your stay at Meno a Kwena Tented Camp offers an authentic safari atmosphere overlooking the Boteti River, an area renowned for its dramatic wildlife movements during the dry season.

  • During your time here, you may enjoy a variety of immersive activities. Guided walking safaris provide an intimate perspective of the surrounding wilderness, while the camp’s unique floating hide offers exceptional close-up wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities.

  • A highlight of your stay is the opportunity to participate in a fascinating Bushman walking experience with members of the Ju/’Hoansi community from Xai Xai village. This cultural encounter offers rare insight into one of Africa’s oldest surviving hunter-gatherer traditions and deepens your connection to the land and its people.
Days 3 - 5 — Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Maun Airport for your light aircraft flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta, landing at Oddballs Airstrip.

  • On arrival, continue by lodge transfer to Delta Camp, beautifully set on a palm-studded island surrounded by seasonal floodplains and crystal-clear channels.

  • Your stay here is highly personalised — each chalet is allocated a private professional guide who will tailor daily activities to your interests and prevailing wildlife conditions.

  • Explore this pristine wilderness on guided nature walks, learning about the smaller wonders of the Delta ecosystem, or glide silently through the waterways on traditional mokoro excursions.

  • These peaceful water safaris provide outstanding opportunities to observe birdlife, aquatic species, and larger wildlife along the Delta’s edge.

  • Evenings are spent back at camp enjoying the tranquillity of this remote setting under vast African skies.

Days 6 - 7 — Kazuma Forest Reserve, Botswana

Today you bid farewell to the Delta and transfer back to the airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Kasane.

  • Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred by road to Camp Kuzuma, located within the wildlife-rich Kazuma Forest Reserve.

  • The camp overlooks a well-frequented waterhole, often visited by large elephant herds and a variety of plains game — frequently visible directly from the main viewing deck.

  • Your stay includes a selection of expertly guided safari activities. Enjoy game walks that reveal the finer details of the bush, as well as half-day game drives through this lesser-visited wilderness area.

  • Evening drives offer a completely different safari perspective, with the chance to encounter fascinating nocturnal species rarely seen during daylight hours.
Day 8 — Departure
  • Enjoy a relaxed final breakfast surrounded by the sounds of the African bush before your scheduled road transfer to Kasane Airport, where your Botswana safari concludes.

We look forward to welcoming you again on a future IC Africa experience.
